I had some sitecom prolific based adapters where the installer left a corrupt installation. I use it hsb with OSX and I cannot recall any driver issues, though that doesn't necessarily help you. Their stuff is awesome. I downloaded new drivers from FTDI, plugged the cable in, Windows automatically installed it, I updated the drivers, fired up the software and bam, worked like a charm.

Again its a real solution rather than a hack. After 3 hours dicking around with different versions of drivers for the USB adapters, thinking there was something goofy going on with my laptop, I said screw it and took one of the signs home. srial Tue May 03, 2: I'll assume it also wouldn't work with a Cisco console cable. The keyspan works fine with Cisco console cables. It uses an FTDI chipset. Sun May 08, 1: Good part is they don't use an FTDI chip which seems to show up in damn near everything these days.

I know it won't work with the controllers I use as the DB9 connector sits back on the controllers baseplate. Since they dont make that anymore, he's scared he'll eventually kill it. It would look like it detected the hardware usbb set everything up correctly but not actually send any bytes.

This is based on whether the chip has a unique serial number or not. I'm a Cisco engineer so am always in serial consoles. That and the recessed serial plug makes connecting some of the more bulky serial cables difficult.
I have the Keyspan as well.
